What is it?

It is AT&T Go Phone recharge expense

It's essentially what amounts to a fraudulent AT&T charge. It is outrageous, they have gotten away with it for YEARS and the only way to stop the charge is to call your bank.

Here's what happened to me: I upgraded my AT&T phone in Nov 2020. I tried to set the phone up myself because I didn't want to be in an AT&T store in the thick of a pandemic. I'm older. I accidentally signed up for AutoPay, and I had to go to the AT&T store and have my number fixed. At the store, they told me to call AT&T and ask them to cancel AutoPay, they said it would be easy. I tried calling, tried using the app, tried the website- several times thinking I had in fact cancelled AutoPay but it didn't stick.

Then I realized AT&T had been double charging me for 4 months! I pay my regular AT&T bill, but then a charge for $64.10 was also coming out of my account every month. They got me for 4 months. SO when I called AT+T the rep was great. She spent 2 hours on the phone trying to help me but literally could not figure out where the charge was coming from. Dead end there. AT&T clearly has no visibility into their own system.

SO I called the number on the bank statement next to the charge: AT&T* VESTA 866-608-3007. A human answered, and I explained this mess to him. He asked if it was a prepaid phone and I told him it was not. He said he could not help me and gave me a new phone number to call. Guess where that number took me? Yep, back to AT&T.

I called my bank, who is helping. They've started a claim and are refunding the charges. I may still end up having to get a new debit card.

This is a HUGE SCAM and AT&T has to be making all kinds of money from people who can't cancel AutoPay and have AT&T pulling money straight out of their accounts. Shameful and disgusting.

I authorized a one time charge to refill my "dumb" go phone. I now realize this VESTA *AT&T 866-608-3007 OR has been continuously charging my credit card $27.75 monthly without my authorization to do so, plus adding insult to injury they are putting this charge on a not working go phone as I use a "smart" LG Microsoft phone...those charges are going on a dead phone! Will be contacting their customer service and update what they fess up to...I expect a refund since I did not authorize monthly service to a dead phone!

I have been an at&t customer for over 20 yrs. I bought a go phone for my 12 yr old foster grandaughter so it would be deducted from her account and she wouldn't go over. Vesta AT&T has been charging double $44.55 every month on her foster care debit card every since March for a mistake they made. I called and changed numbers because she got a new phone with a new sim card. However they failed to cancel the old number out. I explained everything and they assured me it was canceled at the time. It was dead because the sim card had got wet. When I recently discovered in July that they were double billing me they offered to give one month credit but no refund because they say in their agreements it says no refunds. I canceled the auto pay and after the free month is up I will not be using AT&T. That means I will have to cancel mine and my husbands phones out as well. By the time word gets around they will lose several more customers as well. This is just not right! Debra Messer

Just to add my 2 cents here so more people understand that Vesta At&t has somehow been grabbed on to by scammers but I was charged for months at a time this year alone, starting in May even though I haven't bought any sort of products at all from At&t. I don't even have At&t cell service nor do I have a need for a go phone seeing as I have a functioning cell phone to use. Not sure how my credit card was found (maybe online scammers?) but for anyone new coming across this you're not alone! Just call your bank account and report a fraud and then call Vesta At&t to get your credit card number removed from whatever account was opened up.

I want this charge reversed. there was more than one and it is NOT authorized.

On 7/12/23, I was fraudulently charged $32.50 by "VESTA AT&T PREPAID 866-608-3007, OR, US." Shortly thereafter, I was called by my bank's customer service number by a scammer asking for personal information. On 7/13/23, I was fraudulently charged $32.50 by "VESTA AT&T PREPAID 866-608-3007" as well. VESTA was the first of a line of fraudulent charges to my account.

When I signed up for a prepay account, I also purchased an AT&T phone that came with a SIM. I wanted to use my own number so once I activated the phone, the site walked me though porting my old number. However, I noticed I was getting double charged. It turns out. An account was created when I activated, and then a new account was created when I ported my number. If you are getting double charged. Make sure to check the original number from your SIM card as they may have a second account. AT&T support denied I had a second account and blamed my bank as the issue. I found the second account on my own.

Pay as you go cell phone charge or other charges you have agreed to automatic bill.

signed up at att with my new phone and my new debit card was used in store to pay charges. I was pleased with the accommodating again & friendly people as added another service to my order. which paid by same debit card. I've just noticed besides the 2xs a month my account is paid to att theres a VESTA att charge as far back as NOV. 2017 and its my mobile phone account. its att changed its billing and format. its new and still has ways it needs to improve but its not a fraudulent charge as first thought, so will further continue to monitor my charges in future. thanks, S.L.G. central calif.

After checking my elderly father's credit card statement for him...I noticed a Vesta ATT charge for $43.44. He hasn't had an ATT phone for years. I checked through his monthly statements... he has been charged this monthly for 2017 and 2018. That's over $1,000. I still have to check even farther back with the credit card company. ATT knows nothing about it. when I try to call Vesta I'm on hold for long periods and can't get through. I'm contacting the attorney generals office and looking into a class action lawsuit. My opinion of ATT has taken a nose dive after they told me I could sign up for the $55 unlimited plan since I was 55. Turns out it was actually over $100...they forgot to mention it was $55 base then so much per line plus service fees and taxes. I will never do business with them again!

AT&T ere robber my money charging me some they call "vesta" I don't know what is that, but they are charging me money every month with out stop, Why? AT&T is robber the people, please do something to stop this fraud.

It's AT/T Go Phone Charge, I canceled my phone as well, and they kept charging me as well. I spoke to the Manager who was of no help at all and told me the phone was inactive which i needed to verify and then "Verified" it was inactive and no charges would continue. the following day I was charged in spite of the inaccurate info. Make sure you notify your bank of this and file a claim.

I've had the same issue with charges 2 days in a row running a total of over $120.00 and do not own any phone from At&T at all...Sprint is my cell phone company. Another debit of $500 was also the same time with a different name. Just several days before my Capital One card got a charge of $700 with a 3rd company name claiming to be collections. I personally believe the fraud company that did Capital One first is the same company that did both the others from my bank and claiming to be these different companies (somehow getting all kinds of account(s)/card information on people). I had to go to my credit union to file all all the payments as fraud, freeze the bank card and get a new one and change all my login & passwords to all my accounts & credit cards.

When I purchased my flip phone, I deposited $100 for one year's use. Before the year ended $80 plus dollars remained in my account. I added to my account $25 plus a fee because I was told that I would need to add new money for the renewal year. The robot voice on the AT&T line asked how much and I said $25. There was no explanation that this would be the beginning of monthly installments; I had paid a lump at the beginning and expected to pay a lump sum at the renewal. Obviously, I only use $25 worth of AT&T phone service in one year. The numbers are clear and it makes no sense to pay $323.40 for $25 in usage. Cancel my account. It never occurred to me that ATT would stoop to conning and defrauding it's customers; Bell Telephone was once a company noted for its integrity.

My credit card was charged by AT&T "vesta" and I do not have them for my cellphone. Beware of this scam.

It's not just a go-phone charge. I don't have a Go-phone, but when I called AT&T to make a payment, the cust svc guy set me up on a monthly auto pay plan. So my Vesta charge was $44.86, but the next payment on the auto plan is only $23, so he gave me a $20 discount each month. I'm not clear what the name "Vesta" has to do with it, but I know the charge is a monthly cell phone plan charge and it's better than what the man in the ATT store gave me; he had said that $45/mo was my only option. Clearly, it's not.

I cant begin to articulate the pathetic service received from this AT& T Vesta. Im sorry I didn't see this page before I opened the service. I changed over to a contract line and was advised that the prepaid account was transferred and none the less it wasn't and they continue to charge my credit card. Customer service says one thing and then when you get to the accounting supervisor after holding and being hung up on that they cant see the notes from customer service.

I just feel as though they have a license to steal and continue to do it without regard for the customer nor any assistance from local authorities to help stop. Its as though they receive a commission on continued charges without providing a service.

Cancel a claim with vesta they was made

Can you help? What is this charge?
