What is it?

This is a charge from Amazon Prime, a membership service that allows Amazon users to get extra perks, such as free shipping and access to movies, shows, music, etc. Amazon is an American multinational company that focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence.

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer and sells virtually everything, including books, electronics, household goods, food, and pretty much everything else you can imagine. It is one of the world's most valuable brands and is one of the big five American information technology companies, along with Alphabet, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.

Some items Amazon sells include:

  • Books
  • Music
  • Homegoods
  • Gift cards
  • Electronics
  • Garden items
  • Toys and games
  • Office products
  • Pet food or toys
  • Health & personal care items
  • Car and motorbike accessories
  • Clothings, jewelry, or accessories

Why this charge may appear on your card

You're likely seeing this charge because you made a purchase at Amazon Prime. If you didn't make this payment, it's possible someone else did, which may be an early indication of fraud. Unknown Amazon charges are usually from an Amazon Prime payment, a digital service payment, an Amazon Pay transaction, or a bank authorization.

Why you may not recognize this charge

Amazon often doesn't charge your card at the moment of purchase. Rather, they charge your card when the item ships. Additionally, they may do partial charges if your order contains multiple items and they ship or process at different times. For example, if you checked out with two items totaling $100, you might see individual charges of $80 and $20 if those items ship at different times or come from different Amazon sellers.

How to Contact Amazon

You can chat with Amazon or have them call you by visiting Amazon's help center.

OK, I received a charge from Amazon Digital to my bank account and went over the records and found out that there were charges dating back 6 months at 9.99 per month almost always charged on the same day of the month. After a couple of hours on the phone with Amazon, they were able to trace the charges to someone I have no idea of...someone named John Cannaghan...who has been using my number to debit directly from my bank for Amazon digital and Kindle services. Eventually, I was escalated to a service rep who BLOCKED the card from that guys account and gave me a refund for the months that I was charged.

IF ANYONE SEES an Amazon digital or Kindle charge on their bank statement and know that they didn't make that charge, I urge you to call Amazon and get it cleared up. They will do their own investigation to recover the money on their end, but they will refund you the money beforehand and block that card from being used by that person or his/her accounts. Remember to have detailed information as to the dates of the charge/s and your debit or credit card that was used to make those charges because if it isn't in your account, Amazon's computers can search EVERYONE'S accounts to see if the particular card was used in any other account.

I had a 9.48 charge listed as Prime Video*210L82GQ2 888-802-3080 WA. After googling the number, I found this page and was able to track it down on Amazon>Account>Memberships & Subscriptions. It was for a Starz subscription. They do a good job of hiding things so you forget to cancel them. Legit, but annoying.

888-802-3080 is a phone number associated with a large foreign scam operation n India posing as Amazon. Do not call this number or provide them any information. If you see charges on a debit or credit card with this phone number, immediately call or bank and report it as a fraudulent transaction.

A charge of $4.29 was charged to my bank account from Amazon. I did not order this item, and Amazon had no record of this purchase. The bank account was paid to Prime Video Seattle WA. Small amount, but large fraud.

Not a scam. This is a "Prime Video Channel" subscription through Amazon (in my case for HBO.) Sent me down quite the rabbit hole [eye roll]. It looks like a scam because it doesn't show up in your purchased videos and it doesn't show up in your Amazon purchases. You have to go to "Your Memberships and Subscriptions" and then click "Payment History." I found this out after I reported to my bank, and cancelled my card. Oh well. Better than learning it was a scam.

This is a hack / scam. They hacked my card for $10.99 and I do NOT have an Amazon Prime Account. 888-802-3080 is a scam. I had to close my card and get a new one.

I got this charged from my debit card without my authorization. I had to block my card and request a new one. Bank refunded me the money from this transaction. So this is a fraud transaction. I am not even sure if this is Amazon. Probably fraudsters pretending to be Amazon so that people would not notice the payment.

Same thing just happened with me. Same number, PRIME-VIDEO-888-802-3080-Wash. I went to the store and my card was declined. Later this night I checked my account, and about $16 dollars was taken out for a transaction at Amazon. I didn't buy anything from them with that amount. Turns out it was for an HBO Subscription. I don't watch much of anything, so I know it wasn't me. As Ray Herrington, back in 12/26/2018, "Small amount, but large fraud"

How can the same number be doing this for years? Could it be someone working at Amazon?

I found this page upon googling a $9.99 charge on one of my visa credit cards. Of course I did not make this charge, in fact, this card has never been linked to my Amazon account, I have an Amazon credit card (Scammers are obviously morons, can't even do that right). I phoned Amazon, who informed me that the charge was associated with a completely different account, of course. That account that used my credit card was already suspended and the rep recommended I dispute it with my credit card issuer, and she sent me an email detailing the fraud to assist with this process (awesome rep!). My credit card company reversed the charges immediately. To all the other posts here claiming these are legitimate charges, TRY AGAIN! I am def NOT a person who "forgets" that they charged something, snort so when this charge showed up, I immediately knew it was fraud. I check all my accounts AT LEAST every week, and know the balances I should have on them as well, which I pay in full every month. It's only $9.99, sure, but NO ONE will be getting any amount from me for free, I don't even think so. So nice try scammers, with your fake posts claiming these are legit charges, they are most definitely NOT.

This is a scam and not Amazon at all. No Amazon purchases show up with a phone number attached. Call your bank and cancel your card and get a new one. The people in the comments telling you it’s just a subscription you forgot about or something similar are LYING and SCAMMING you. They likely work for the people that created this scam. Do not fall for it. Do not listen to them.

Found fraudulent charges on my credit card called AMZN and KINDLE.

BEWARE: PEOPLE POSTING HERE WHO SAY THEY HAD SIMILAR CHARGES THAT THEY THEN REMEMBERED ARE OK... ARE THEMSELVES FRAUDSTERS, trying to get us to not bother reporting these charges when we see them

Prime Video *9O2SE0CW3 888-802-3080 WA (charge for $8.40) I called Amazon directly (not using the number above), and the representative confirmed that this is NOT a legitimate Amazon phone number. He also told me that the reference number does not relate to anything in their system. He recommended that I call my bank to dispute the charge.

Ok all of you people need to ACTUALLY CALL AMAZON, and not some sketchy number along with the charge. First red flag is the scammy sounding recording..

My mom got a charge, and they tried to tell her that it was some HBO purchase BUT SHE DOESNT HAVE AN AMAZON ACCOUNT.

Do NOT fall for this crap, its obviously a scam, and if you read my warning and still get scammed, well its your own fault at this point

I also had this charge on my card and called Amazon customer service. They explained that it was for a Kindle book I purchased. They went on to say that they are having difficulties with their billing system (?) and what would normally say "Amazon Kindle Services" or similar has this name instead. They have known about the issue for a few days now and are actively working to fix it.

I noticed that these post are older. My problem ocurred on May,22, 2023. The scam is still going around. I was charged $9.99 for something I didn't buy. Never even used the card that was charged on Amazon. It appeared on my statement as AMZN Digital 05-22 888-802-3080 WA. Best bet is to cancel your card and get a new one. If they can use it on Amazon, then what is stopping them from using it someplace else.

I searched my Amazon Prime account high and low for whatever I might have ordered for $9.80 and $5.44 and could not find any record -- online or in my emails. I started to call the 888-802-3080 number that said it was Amazon and wanted to verify who I was and sent me a text but then I paused and realized it could be a scam so googled the number and got this webpage. I immediately hung up and contacted Amazon Customer Service via its webpage and received a call immediately. They had NO record of the reoccurring charges and said the 888 number is NOT associated with their website. I checked other Amazon purchases in my bank account that I did in fact make and they had no phone number connected to them. THIS IS CLEARLY A SCAM! Do not call the phone #.

I had a .60 charge on my account for Prime Video. I did not rent anything. I went to Chase, and they said it was fraud. They 1) refunded the charge 2) closed my card & 3) issued me a new card. The rep told me it was a good thing that I notified them, or else they may have incurred much larger charges to my account. 😳

I was checking my Amazon account a couple of days ago and noticed that I had 2 $87 dollar charges. This happened on consecutive days. The charges came from this number. PRIME-VIDEO-888-802-3080-WA

I didn't have any thing open. Contacted Amazon and also contacted my bank and had my card closed. Yes, it is a scam.

This is the phone number for subscriptions for digital services, ie: mine was $9.99/month ($10.81 with tax) for Paramount+, which I completely forgot I subscribed to (hello, Yellowstone!). I spoke directly with Amazon by calling the number from the Amazon website and they were able to tell me what it was for. They transferred me to the digital department and my subscription was canceled and my credit card was credited.

I was literally just getting ready to call both Amazon and my bank to report "digital" charges that I didn't know what they were for. A post here on this page mentioned looking at "memberships and subscriptions" on the Amazon account, and sure enough omg there they were! One was for the "friendly tv" subscription and one was for "discovery subscription". I wish that these would specify what they are for, just like it does specify on the charge when it is an Amazon charge for the monthly prime bill. Anyway, I was minutes away from reporting this as fraud and it wasn't. Although the number that is associated with this, and people are reporting that number as scam, but I'm not so sure.

I got this charge to my bank and it says “amazon” mind you i don’t even have an amazon account with the card , i even contacted them and they said there’s no record of it either so this is definitely a scam call your banks and cancel the card.

100% SCAM.Call your bank and report fraud and have a stop payment put in place and get a new debit card.

I saw a charge in my bank account this morning for $98.99, PRIME VIDEO with the 888 phone number. It wasn't in my Amazon purchases. Our Prime account renews at $119 and that's not until January. I contacted my bank to dispute the charge, canceled my card & ordered a new one. THEN I saw a post on here to check "Memberships & Subscriptions" and sure enough, our NBA LEAGUE PASS was just renewed today for one year. This isn't on my radar at all because my husband and sons are the sports fans -- and it's an annual charge so it seems like it's out of nowhere -- and I'd already confirmed it wasn't my Prime renewal. I called the bank again, luckily got the same customer service person, and she undid everything for me. My takeaway is, IT'S ENTIRELY POSSIBLE that a lot of the people posting here have had their credit card numbers stolen or their Amazon accounts hacked, so the charge appears to be fraudulent -- and it basically is since the charge was made by a thief! -- but IF you do have an Amazon account, take half a minute to double check that "Memberships & Subscriptions" just to make sure there's nothing hiding in there that a family member ordered or something that slipped your mind. (If it's your mom's credit card and she doesn't even have an Amazon account, it's obviously NOT her purchase, so a bad actor got the card info and used it.) Can we suggest to Amazon that they put subscriptions on the same damn page as other orders, so we can see immediately what the charge is for??? Would've saved me some time and effort today.

Call Amazon before calling your bank but make sure to look up the Amazon customer service number or use their chat. I was charged $2.26 2 days ago and believed it to be fraud however Amazon was able to confirm it was my Discovery+ subscription that had been discounted due to a promotion from Discovery (charge is typically $5.67/mth). If you review your charges under your subscription it will show the list of charges. I am not saying that there aren't fraudulent charges out there but make sure you check off all avenues before having the bank cancel your card and the hassle for an item that may be legit.

I have had charges going back a year now (varying from $10-$13) but never paid them attention because I assumed it was one of my family members and the price was low enough that it slipped under the radar. After receiving another billing this month and following up with family members and my own Amazon account and found no video rentals or purchases. Addition research (here and varying other sites) showed that it was indeed fraud. Talked with my bank representative and had the funds credited back and the card destroyed.

Remember, always be skeptical of people who tell you there is nothing to be worried about. At the very least it is safer to err on the side of caution when it comes to your money

This is 100% fraud. The people on here saying it is legit must be part of this. I have never had my debit card connected to my Amazon account. If you call the number, they want your debit card number and want you to verify who you are by sending you a verification. Amazon does not do this and should be able to pull your information up. They will confirm this is not their process. When you ask to speak to a manager at this number, they will tell you one is not available. I got a debit charge for kindle services and reported it as fraud, my bank issued me a new card and I used it to put gas one time. A week later I got a new debit card charge for Amazon digital. The only explanation is the gas station is stealing my card number. Be careful and pay cash.

I have had to close down all of my cards used online. I was charged 4.29 for Amazon music 2 months in a row before I caught it. Called Amazon, no record of me having that subscription and was told it was manually entered and not like a normal recurring subscription. Stupid Indian kyke mother fuckers. Always wanting shit free 🖕🏻

Thank you to all these posts/posters!!! Super helpful. Just got a $1.29 charge (posing as Amazon) and I'm calling credit card company to dispute. Had my wallet stolen recently so luckily we have been super vigilant on our accounts otherwise I might not have noticed this small amount. Again, this website was so helpful. Scammers need to all rot in hell.

Scam. I spent some time on the phone with these clowns, and they tried to get unnecessary information out of me and never resolved my dispute. Just cancel your card and get a new one. I disputed with my bank and they were very little help, so you just have to cut that card off quick.

Fraud for sure. I am an Amazon prime member yet when I checked my Amazon Prime account, no purchase showed up for this $5.99. Also called Amazon and same was confirmed - no purchase for $5.99. Thus, someone was processing this charge to my credit card pretending to be Prime Video - note that “Amazon” did not appear on the charge, different from other past legit Amazon prime video transactions. Canceled the credit card and requested refund from cc company. This went back for a few months. Bank refunding charges. Hadn’t noticed since this amount generally falls under the radar.

I just got this scam ironed out with AMEX. After checking my card transactions going back a year and a half I've been getting dinged twice a month @ 2.99 per item, usually on the 10th of each month. Seeing all these posts dating back to 2018 makes me think Amazon doesn't really care that their customers are getting ripped off on a regular basis. Time for a class action suit!

Received computerized report of use of my Verizon Visa Card of Symphony Bank for $26.84 of 03 Dec by "AMZN Digital 888-802-3080, Washington" I make one charge a month on this card, on the 2nd of the month to pay Verizon, nothing more. I called Symphony Bank Fraud, Manila made report that their bank got had. New account number next month should take care of this.

Discover Card with a charge for $473.42. No similar purchase on Amazon account. Don’t call the number referenced as it is not an Amazon phone number. It is the scammers number. If you call the number and get through, you will not be speaking to anyone at Amazon. Call your bank or credit card provider and dispute the charge.

This may or may not be a fraud charge. That phone number is indeed associated with Amazon. But that does not mean that someone did not ding your account through them for something fraudulent. The hope is that you won't respond to the small amount or question it as ANYONE checking on the charge will quickly find it was for nonsense. Just keep checking both your card account and always look for your Amazon purchases, including digital purchases, to make sure they match up.

I read the posts in here and checked my subscriptions. Found I was getting charged $3.99 a month for FANDOR. I did not sign up for this and never heard of this before today. Might have been someone that accidently clicked on it to trigger the charges. I was able to cancel and get a refund. The charges started out at 1.99/mo then when to 2.99/mo then to 3.99/mo. I though it was for movie rentals for a while until I knew we did not rent any movies.

I noticed a small charge on my credit card from "Prime Video". I didn't order anything and am probably the only human who doesn't have an Amazon account, so I knew this was bogus. I've alerted my credit union and disputed the charge.

Call Amazon Prime Video via the Amazon Prime app, "Settings", "Help and Feedback", "Contact Us". These are digital subscriptions that occur monthly. If you have multiple charges, on the same days, each month, it's subscriptions. I had Paramount, Starz and Masterpiece Theater...called Amazon directly and confirmed each charge. I canceled the subscriptions and stopped seeing the charges. The charges screamed fraud but they ended up being legit. Don't cancel you card until you attempt to verify them with Amazon.

This is an actual charge. Although the internet is rife with fraud accusations, this is an actual Amazon digital charge, usually incurred through an Amazon Fire tablet or smart TV rather than your Amazon app on your phone (where you will not see it listed). I called Amazon directly, from my app, and she was able to find the charge. It turns out the decision I made from the couch while battling the Flu in January was still ongoing - a $7.41 recurring charge for access to Barbie's Dreamhouse VIP section on our Amazon Fire tablet. I am glad I did my research instead of having to get a new credit card issued.

Yup amzn with that same 1-800# is fraud. Just called Bank of America and they cancelled the debit card ipthe fraudulent charges were assigned to and blocked that AMZN name.

Very weird I had just enrolled in my bank and I never even got my card the very first purchase showed up as Amazon I was so confused because I never even received my card called my bank and they where even more confused because my card hadn’t been activated yet my card was used for a purchase they explained it was possibly a error due to the delivery of my card however I’m not completely sure

This is a legit purchase. I just went through my bank statement because my kindle unlimited charge was labeled "Amazon Prime PMT" instead of Kindle. I looked through various legit Amazon purchases, and this exact number came up under an "Amazon Music" charge. You people are being charged for video subscriptions or Kindle subscriptions and somehow getting money back for it. You're the ones scamming Amazon!

This is a legit number. I called when I saw unexpected charges on one of my credit cards. With out giving my information only by getting a text from them there were able to access my account and tell me what the charges were related to. Turned out my wife had mistakenly used the account.

I got a $3.99 charge from AMZN Digital and did not find it when I searched digital orders. I also checked that my BritBox subscription is $6.99/month. Turns out (1) they gave me a promotional credit so this month it was only $3.99 and (2) the charge showed up in my credit card transactions under a new name this month, AMZN Digital vs the old Prime Video. Canceled the card before I figured it out. Finding your Amazon transaction history is key to investigating this.

I had a recurring charge of $1.06 with this same phone number. I didn't catch it until 2 recurring charges were billed and one was paid for in my monthly card payment. I just went to my credit card web site and disputed the two charges and my account will be refunded and a new card will be mailed to me.

I received an alert regarding a CC charge that indicated "Merchant name is Prime Video, Merchant category is PROCESSING, Amount is $8.99"

I couldn't find any video purchases, then I found this page and read someone's comment about going to the section Amazon>Account>Memberships & Subscriptions. In Subscriptions, I found a Showtime subscription that someone in my household triggered as a trial, and now it was going to bill me monthly - but I'm still in the free trial period! They decided to charge me a month in advance! I was able to stop this 'subscription' and request a refund of the charge, and also indicate to leave the remainder of the free trial active, but do NOT auto-renew.

So, net-net, a legitimate charge, but I couldn't tell what it was from the CC charge, and it was not listed in my 'Digital orders' or any other orders - I had to drill into the Subscriptions area to find it.

Be careful of any subscriptions you wish to trial for free - if you forget to cancel, you'll get billed.

I've had the same as well, it says Prime Video and one of them had AMZN Digital, then an order number or account number. Amazon said that the location shouldn't be 888-802-3080. Be careful out there, and God I hope they catch the sons a bitches.

This was on my bill as Amazon Digit*TA15Q34C1888-802-3080WA and turns out it is my HBO MAX monthly Charge. To verify, go to your Amazon account and look for "Memberships and Subscriptions". NOT a scam....

i have recieved message that from CITI Bank Credit card department. Transction at Amazon digital 8888023080 US on 20-Mar-19 declined on your credit card ending with 2663 due to invalid expiry date entry. retry with valid expiry date.

i question is that who has given the rights to access my credit card ??

I just notice this very charge when I was looking at my online account. I logged into my Amazon account and found numerous charges for a digital service listed as Amazon Kids+. I listed each charge as fraud but I will also be going through my bank since I can't find an actual number to talk to someone with Amazon

I just got off phone with a Legit Amazon rep and they verified the (888)802-3080 is a legit Pime video phone number. I just cant figure out who is actually using my credit account so their is a problem, just not with this phone number. number is not a scam

Definitely a scam cancel your card!!! Small consistent charges.

I had this charge for Prime Video for $5.44. After a little investigation, it is legitimate. We have the Motortrend channel to watch Top Gear and this was the first charge. Whew

I had two charges every month on a single credit card; both for $5.99. One was labeled as "VIACOMCBS STREAMING 888-274-5343" and the 2nd was "Prime Video 888-802-3080". I suspected that I was being billed twice for the CBS-focused streaming service. I contacted Amazon by phone [not very easy to do, by the way] and they said the "Prime Video" entry was for Paramount+ (which also showed on my Amazon 'my subscriptions' page). They could not see the Viacom CBS account. I contacted Viacom/Paramount via the 888 number above and they confirmed that I had a Paramount+ account under Viacom CBS. They also could not see the Paramount+ account under Amazon and they could not look up any activity by credit card number. So, I confirmed to myself that I had inadvertently created TWO CBS/Viacom/Paramount accounts...one on-line and one through Amazon Prime (but both were being billed to the same credit card). I canceled the Viacom CBS account and left the Paramount+ account (exactly the same streaming service) alone under Amazon. BOTTOM LINE: as others have stated, check your 'my subscriptions' page(s) under your Amazon account before crying "fraud"...there are several tabs under 'my subscriptions' to give you lots of info about active/canceled/free/unconsummated accounts through Amazon.

Just putting another record amid a lot of noise that for me, this was a legitimate charge to Amazon, for a trial video subscription I started months ago and forgot to cancel (and as others note, it is hard to find, it doesn't show up in the "purchases" section, subscriptions show up under setting and your account.) While some people may truly have had their card stolen and/or their account hacked, the charge itself is a legitimate Amazon charge, as some others have noted. PRACTICAL NOTE: If it is an a legit Amazon charge, that means your Amazon account was hacked, not that your card was stolen! Don't cancel your card but leave your account unprotected!

This is a fraud charge caught during another fraud charge when it came through when I knew I had made no purchases and had no subscriptions plus is not an entity I was familiar with. They ARE NOT AMAZON. It’s fraud.

I had a charge pop up as AmazonMusic*P11KL2888-802-3080 WAUS on my account it was for the amount of 10.81. I searched for it, not finding much other than this page. I went to my Amazon account, and it was my Amazon Music subscription. I had signed up for Amazon Music a while back (I can't remember when exactly), so there's a decent chance that was my own fault. HOWEVER I also have random charge amounts ranging from 19.67 - 27.58 listed as Amazon.com Seattle WAUS; and there are no corresponding purchases in my account. I've called my institution to cancel/replace the card since I doubt there's anything that Amazon can actually do.

I got a $4.28 charge from PRIME VIDEO 888-802-3080. I hadn't made any purchases on Prime Video. I checked Memberships & Subs, and there aren't any. Then I looked under digital orders and found a movie rental. My son apparently clicked "Rent" on a Prime movie, while watching on his TV, and he assumed it would give options or more info. Instead, it immediately charged my card and rented the movie. We are used to confirmation buttons and "Choose your payment type" options, but these don't exist on every device. Very easy to mistakenly rent or sign up for a service you don't want. Keep on an eye out. It's still valid to dispute if it was a mistake caused by bad UI.

I received two charges in June and again in July. The Prime Video charge was for HBO MAX, which I cancelled during the trial period. According to Amazon, they can't refund the charge and there is no record of my cancellation. They should be able to see that I have not tuned into HBO and used that service after I cancelled. So while not a scam, it is pretty deceptive, as HBO MAX did not show up my account once I cancelled it. Time for me to STOP all activity with Amazon and see what else I am paying for that I am not aware of.

My "Kindle Unlimited" subscription.

I found 3 charges with this phone number on my debit card a few weeks ago, knew that I didn't pay for Amazon Prime Video as it's included with my Prime membership, the phone number sounded fishy when I called it (confirm your account after I text you? NOPE), and then I googled and found lots of things about the number being related to a foreign scam. Reported fraud, lived without my debit card for a week, got new card, 1 week later, same charge is on my new debit card already? I knew something was up. Dug deeper into Amazon and I did find that there was an AMC subscription showing that amount, matching all of those charges in my Amazon account. I most likely did a "free trial" and forgot to cancel. It's cancelled now so should stop - but it's still really weird that the statement had that clearly fraudulent phone # attached to it. I'll update if charges don't stop.

I check my credit union account almost daily b/c I have no life and always worry (also I may have a Door Dash addiction).

ATM Point of Sale 2/1 5:15 AM Prime Video*N32P81673 888-802-3080, WA -$6.48 - Not a subscription b/c all subscriptions, rentals, purchases end up on my Amazon CC. Went to my Amazon account first, verified neither I nor anyone else had rented or bought a video, book, etc. Not a Paramount+ either, I don't have any add-ons. Called my credit union to cancel.

Besides, why would Amazon miss the opportunity to add a charge to their own CC account to get that $$ interest payment**.

Just had a $16 charge show up with this phone number and "Prime Video". So I was freaked out by all the people on here saying some guy in India or something was stealing money from me! But then I relaxed a bit and checked my subscriptions on Amazon and realized it was just my HBO subscription renewing.

This charge is not a scam. It literally corresponded exactly to a charge on my Amazon account on the same date. Unless Amazon DIDN'T charge me for HBO and this just happens to be a scam charge for the same exact amount on the same exact day. That would be pretty crazy.

I looked on my bank statement online and noticed a $14.99 charge for "Prime Video - Amazon" with the phone number shown on the details line.

Called and it was Amazon Prime (an offshore service, God knows where. CSR almost sounded like a robot with excellent AI programming). Anyway, while talking to her I realized what had happened.

  • I already had an active Amazon Prime account, and separately have an HBO now account, which I pay through Google's Play subscription services.

  • My question when calling was WHY I had that separate $14.99 "Prime Video" charge when I already had paid for an annual Prime subscription.

  • Problem was on my end. A week ago I had bought a TV with Roku built in. I signed up for HBO Now, which was one of the channels offered within the Amazon Prime account (which I had entered on to the Roku TV.

  • Issue was I had entered a different e-mail in the TV's Amazon Prime account. IOW, Amazon Prime treated me as a new HBO Now subscriber. Because my original HBO Now account was under a different e-mail address, and Amazon Prime did NOT know that, it treated me as a new HBO Now subscriber.

  • When I explained that this was the issue to the CSR, she was at first thought I was making up stories. But I told her look up my Prime Account under the other address, she would see all my information is the same, she quickly said I was right. She gave me a refund on the $14.99 charge and cancelled that HBO Now subscription.

  • Note: FYI for anyone confused by this as I was, the proper way to sign up for Ruku TV on existing services which you pay for separately: the Roku TV needs your account information on that existing subscription. Also the TV will tell you to go to a link on your computer, and enter the "activation code" that appears on the TV screen.

Hope that makes sense.

P.S. I got right through to Amazon custo service. Called at 3:00 PM PDT. Total call was about 10 minutes.

I have some charges with this number. I was able to trace the dates back to purchasing a season of two different shows, coincidently the same price and around the same time of two consecutive months. The Amazon card (Chase) statements have transactions listed by monthly statement date, which made it seem like the payments were made on the same day each month until I looked harder for the actual purchase dates.

I was at first concerned but after checking my subscriptions, it is a legitimate charge. There is a lot of paranoia in these post and maybe some of these people have been compromised, but this is an Amazon number and a legitimate charge for me.

A charged just billed to my credit card (3/1/2019) for 9.99. Called the phone number and was told it was for Cinemax. He asked me do you want me to cancel it. I said yes, and he said I should receive a credit in 5 business days... so sounds like there could be a promotion for Cinemax, as he asked pretty quickly if I wanted to cancel... just saying...

This "Prime Video" charge with the number 888-802-3080 is actually for my Prime video channel "paramount" I forgot I'd bought it at a cost of $1 per month for two months and now it's 9.99. It is a legit charge. I just canceled it.

I pay yearly for amazon prime, so when I noticed this monthly charge show up a few times I was concerned. Using the info here, I discovered it was a Starz subscription on my amazon account. I think it was a 7day free trial I forgot about when it showed a movie I wanted to watch, and after the free trial they start charging automatically. Canceled the subscription through account settings.

Customer service agent would not refund me my charge because I cannot verify the name of the person who used my credit card without my permission. This is ridiculous. Calling my credit card company to cancel the card now

This scam is still going on strong in Dec2021. I got a $3.21 charge on my Debit Card account from "AMZN DIGITAL*NR0KQ0WO3" with the listed phone number. I was immediately suspicious because I got my replacement debit card a few months back and I have never used it online anywhere, let alone with Amazon. So it was very easy for me to look through the charade. I immediately called Bank and asked to raise a dispute and get my card blocked and a new one reissued. Something very similar happened a few months back with my Credit card too. It had a 0.99$ charge from "Pepsi TX", such small charges are easily buried and hard to keep track of so scammers have recently started doing these to fly under the radar... WTF..

Amazon won't ask for the full number on your credit card, they ask only for the last 4 digits which is all that they can see on your account. I also had a 8.99 charge I did not make, never talked to anyone with good english, they finally just refunded me the money, which did not show up anywhere on my account. They did tell me it was for a STARZ subscription, which I already have on my cable. Needless to say, I ordered a new credit card as I think it was compromised by someone scamming my credit card,

We saw several suspicious small charges on our credit card statement today. We pulled out our saved statements, and the debits were there only some amounts were different over time. We read the comments above and thought the charges might be a scam. Before we panicked, I pulled up our Amazon Prime on the TV to confirm the subscriptions we have, the cost and date of the next debit on the card. The numbers were close but not the same. Pulled up Amazon on desktop. Logged into our account, hovered over accounts & lists, pull-down menu opened. Went to Membership & Subscriptions and clicked the link. Our Amazon Prime (if you have it) and our subscriptions purchased through Amazon appeared before you very eyes. We have prime and 3 subscriptions. There they were and the amounts matched the debit dates and charges. You can choose one of yours and click on payment history. You'll see the payment with tax included, date of next debit, the credit card in use and history of payments. And, the unsubscribe button is close by too. If you're still uneasy then you can easily switch your card in use to another one if you have two on file. If you can't match up those payment amounts and/or the subscription (s) with the amounts you're being charged then there's an obvious problem. For us, all the charges and payments were as they should be. We did switch our credit card. Our credit union is much easier to deal with if there's a problem involving their card then the card we were currently using.

Found this page extremely useful. Found a charge on my credit card from Amazon with the 888-802-3080 phone number showing. Was for a subscription to a video streaming service that I did not subscribe to. Amazon refunded cheerfully and took note of the circumstances for fraud investigation. Information here was key to figuring it all out.

Prime Video charge turned out to be from a 7 day free trial of the UP channel that I sign up for on TV and forgot to cancel. Go to Membership & Subscriptions and look at payment history. It will charge it to whatever card your Prime Membership uses.

I was charged $6.99 for a BritBox subscription that I never signed up for. The rep said it was triggered by a link, and that he was elevating the issue to see that it didn't happen again. I never signed up for BritBox, PLUS the charge did not show up in my Amazon Prime account--it was ONLY in the pending charges on my bank account. Fishy!!

I cancelled the subscription last month when I saw the charge on my statement. They charged me again. I cancelled it AGAIN. I'm convinced that Amazon is a scam. Bait and switch. I run an online business. If I did what Amazon does, I'd get shut down.

I got scam by amazon also for 14.99

I see where people are saying that this is an legit scam, however if you get the charge do a little more research. It is a amazon related charge. For me its related to a subscription for paramount+. It was only found by looking at my active subscriptions. It wont show up as a normal purchase. That's not saying however that somebody didnt your cc number and started the account, but at least you know its linked to an actual amazon purchase.

DO NOT CALL THE 888 NUMBER! It is a scam number. Call your bank instead as your debit card was likely hacked.

Called Amazon Customer Service and was told that this number was associated with the charge for my apple watch warranty.... Odd because although the warranty shows a digital purchase, the watch shows differently.

I had this same telephone number show up. I called it and when the recorded message asked me to verify my account, I hung up, suspicious. But guess what - I looked at my Amazon Prime Video account to see if it showed a charge of that amount on the right date and there it was: BritBox, which I had forgotten I recently resubscribed to. So before you believe the folks on here who are stirring up trouble, take a minute to look at your Amazon account!

four unauthorized charges of 9.99 were made on my bank card. I contacted amazon and they found that someone used my card on a different prime account but could not give me the information for privacy reasons. Amazon will not take legal action against the person, they suggested to contact the police and they will provide the information to the police in case anyone want to take legal action. I had to call my bank and deactivate my card and now I have to wait for a new one. the bank is processing the claim and will refund the money within 5 days

Need to change my credit card number

At first I also didn't recognize this charge, "Prime Video 888-802-3080", but I went to my Amazon account, Memberships & Subscriptions page, I'm subscribed to HBO and there's a link to Payment History that the subscription charge matches the date on my credit card statement. I did sign up for this.

It's a legitimate charge for me, so don't automatically assume it's fraud - check your account, and check your email (they sent you one when you signed up for it).

I was charged $76.94 for Amzn Digital services that I never signed up for, on a card that was never provided to amazon. I have a prime video subscription which runs off a different card. When I called Amazon they asked me to add the card which had the incorrect charge in order for them to investigate. I found this strange as I want to know how they got my card details in the first place. I then took it up with my bank who logged a dispute and now I wait !

I called this number because I had a recurring monthly charge. The man on the other end was from Amazon Prime support and he told me that charge was for the STARS channel that I ordered months ago ... and I have been enjoying that channel all along.

I read a good number of these "complaints" here before calling the number so I could be prepared for just about anything. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this charge was NOTHING to be alarmed about. The people on this topic must be forgetful. I cannot admit that anyone here with a complaint is valid and they need to call the number and get things straightened out - just like I did. Stop being alarmists and making people think there is something wrong with this 888-802-3080 Amazon Prime Digital charge on their bill.

Saw this charge on my bank charge listing, had to do a little digging around in our Amazon Prime order history, but it was for a Britbox TV selection that I did order a few months back for my wife. Having been through a recent fraudulent use of one of my credit cards, I was glad to see that this was something I actually did buy, but had forgotten about (I don't watch the channel myself). It would be nice, however, if the description that Amazon provides to the bank would specifically state what the service is that's being charged ("Britbox") instead of a generic "Prime Video" description that may or may not ring a bell.

SCAM , I realized this charge was made to my accounts from 2 months ago. more than $200, altogether. Best thing is just call your bank and block this account from future transactions. This is not Amazon...

With the help of another post here, I was able to determine that this is a legitimate charge that I’d forgotten about. I signed up for PBS Documentaries a couple of months ago & was charged $2.99 for the first month, then $3.99 on the following months. I was able to find the subscription by logging into the standard Amazon website & looking under “Memberships & Subscriptions”. A couple of clicks and I was able to cancel it.

Fucking street shitters Bollywood bastards

I was charged 3 months for $4.27. I called them and they explained it. It is due to an accidental subscription to Amazon Music. When the subscription added, I got an email with the details , but over looked it considering it as spam. As the Amazon music never used on my Alexa in last 3 months period, they happily refunded. Kudos to Amazon Customer Service.. it is just 2 minutes call with Amazon Prime and another 2 minutes with Amazon Music. Will check the refund in 2-3 days..

had this charge show up. Its for starz account that was nearly impossible to find. it was origianlly on wifes account but they changed the card to mine bc hers expired (which should not be done imo)

This is Amazon's number. It doesn't mean the charge is legit. I had the same thing happen. They tried to tell me that I signed up for an Amazon Music Service. No way and no way I accidently clicked on it since I wasn't anywhere near Amazon's website on the day in question.

Just talk to amazon via the chat if you aren't comfortable calling the number like i was. The phone number was kinda sketchy but even when calling amazon's official number it was the same way. I spoke with amazon chat and she was able to confirm that a family member charged my card on their account.

I have the same description for charges shown at the same time each month for 7 months at the same price of $9.84. I chatted online with one of Amazon's representatives and they said it was for a Starz subscription, but I never subscribed. They canceled "subscription" and providing a refund for all the months within 3-5 days. They were very helpful and it was resolved in 10 minutes.

I saw a charge on my bank statement for $9.76. So I went back through my statements and found it repeating. We rent videos on Amazon from time to time so it wasn't unusual, but this charge was on a night we weren't home, that's why I started digging deeper. I dug around my Amazon account and found it under Memberships & Subscriptions. It was for HBO. I purchase HBO through YouTubeTV, so I've been double-paying for HBO. >: I cancelled it on my Amazon account.

Thanks to this post, I was able to identify charges going back 8+ months on my charge card statement as fraudulent. I called Amazon, who refused to help me and said "Call your bank. We don't have a Fraud Department." I said Are you KIDDING ME??? Amazon has no fraud dept? So I called Bank of America, who gave me a credit for the $195 I had paid for these charges. It's shocking to me that Amazon cares so little for long time customers!

Can you help? What is this charge?
