OK, I received a charge from Amazon Digital to my bank account and went over the records and found out that there were charges dating back 6 months at 9.99 per month almost always charged on the same day of the month. After a couple of hours on the phone with Amazon, they were able to trace the charges to someone I have no idea of...someone named John Cannaghan...who has been using my number to debit directly from my bank for Amazon digital and Kindle services. Eventually, I was escalated to a service rep who BLOCKED the card from that guys account and gave me a refund for the months that I was charged.

IF ANYONE SEES an Amazon digital or Kindle charge on their bank statement and know that they didn't make that charge, I urge you to call Amazon and get it cleared up. They will do their own investigation to recover the money on their end, but they will refund you the money beforehand and block that card from being used by that person or his/her accounts. Remember to have detailed information as to the dates of the charge/s and your debit or credit card that was used to make those charges because if it isn't in your account, Amazon's computers can search EVERYONE'S accounts to see if the particular card was used in any other account.

I had a 9.48 charge listed as Prime Video*210L82GQ2 888-802-3080 WA. After googling the number, I found this page and was able to track it down on Amazon>Account>Memberships & Subscriptions. It was for a Starz subscription. They do a good job of hiding things so you forget to cancel them. Legit, but annoying.

888-802-3080 is a phone number associated with a large foreign scam operation n India posing as Amazon. Do not call this number or provide them any information. If you see charges on a debit or credit card with this phone number, immediately call or bank and report it as a fraudulent transaction.

A charge of $4.29 was charged to my bank account from Amazon. I did not order this item, and Amazon had no record of this purchase. The bank account was paid to Prime Video Seattle WA. Small amount, but large fraud.

Not a scam. This is a "Prime Video Channel" subscription through Amazon (in my case for HBO.) Sent me down quite the rabbit hole [eye roll]. It looks like a scam because it doesn't show up in your purchased videos and it doesn't show up in your Amazon purchases. You have to go to "Your Memberships and Subscriptions" and then click "Payment History." I found this out after I reported to my bank, and cancelled my card. Oh well. Better than learning it was a scam.

I found this page upon googling a $9.99 charge on one of my visa credit cards. Of course I did not make this charge, in fact, this card has never been linked to my Amazon account, I have an Amazon credit card (Scammers are obviously morons, can't even do that right). I phoned Amazon, who informed me that the charge was associated with a completely different account, of course. That account that used my credit card was already suspended and the rep recommended I dispute it with my credit card issuer, and she sent me an email detailing the fraud to assist with this process (awesome rep!). My credit card company reversed the charges immediately. To all the other posts here claiming these are legitimate charges, TRY AGAIN! I am def NOT a person who "forgets" that they charged something, snort so when this charge showed up, I immediately knew it was fraud. I check all my accounts AT LEAST every week, and know the balances I should have on them as well, which I pay in full every month. It's only $9.99, sure, but NO ONE will be getting any amount from me for free, I don't even think so. So nice try scammers, with your fake posts claiming these are legit charges, they are most definitely NOT.

I also had this charge on my card and called Amazon customer service. They explained that it was for a Kindle book I purchased. They went on to say that they are having difficulties with their billing system (?) and what would normally say "Amazon Kindle Services" or similar has this name instead. They have known about the issue for a few days now and are actively working to fix it.

I got this charge to my bank and it says “amazon” mind you i don’t even have an amazon account with the card , i even contacted them and they said there’s no record of it either so this is definitely a scam call your banks and cancel the card.

I got this charged from my debit card without my authorization. I had to block my card and request a new one. Bank refunded me the money from this transaction. So this is a fraud transaction. I am not even sure if this is Amazon. Probably fraudsters pretending to be Amazon so that people would not notice the payment.

I had a .60 charge on my account for Prime Video. I did not rent anything. I went to Chase, and they said it was fraud. They 1) refunded the charge 2) closed my card & 3) issued me a new card. He also told me that the reference number does not relate to anything in their system. He recommended that I call my bank to dispute the charge.

I was at first concerned but after checking my subscriptions, it is a legitimate charge. There is a lot of paranoia in these post and maybe some of these people have been compromised, but this is an Amazon number and a legitimate charge for me.

I have had charges going back a year now (varying from $10-$13) but never paid them attention because I assumed it was one of my family members and the price was low enough that it slipped under the radar. After receiving another billing this month and following up with family members and my own Amazon account and found no video rentals or purchases. Addition research (here and varying other sites) showed that it was indeed fraud. Talked with my bank representative and had the funds credited back and the card destroyed.

Remember, always be skeptical of people who tell you there is nothing to be worried about. At the very least it is safer to err on the side of caution when it comes to your money

This scam is still going on strong in Dec2021. I got a $3.21 charge on my Debit Card account from "AMZN DIGITAL*NR0KQ0WO3" with the listed phone number. I was immediately suspicious because I got my replacement debit card a few months back and I have never used it online anywhere, let alone with Amazon. So it was very easy for me to look through the charade. I immediately called Bank and asked to raise a dispute and get my card blocked and a new one reissued. Something very similar happened a few months back with my Credit card too. It had a 0.99$ charge from "Pepsi TX", such small charges are easily buried and hard to keep track of so scammers have recently started doing these to fly under the radar... WTF..

Found this page extremely useful. Found a charge on my credit card from Amazon with the 888-802-3080 phone number showing. Later this night I checked my account, and about $16 dollars was taken out for a transaction at Amazon. I didn't buy anything from them with that amount. Turns out it was for an HBO Subscription. How can the same number be doing this for years? Could it be someone working at Amazon?

I noticed that these post are older. My problem ocurred on May,22, 2023. The scam is still going around. I was charged $9.99 for something I didn't buy. Never even used the card that was charged on Amazon. It appeared on my statement as AMZN Digital 05-22 888-802-3080 WA. Best bet is to cancel your card and get a new one. If they can use it on Amazon, then what is stopping them from using it someplace else.

This is a fraud charge caught during another fraud charge when it came through when I knew I had made no purchases and had no subscriptions plus is not an entity I was familiar with. They ARE NOT AMAZON. It’s fraud.

I saw a charge in my bank account this morning for $98.99, PRIME VIDEO with the 888 phone number. It wasn't in my Amazon purchases. Our Prime account renews at $119 and that's not until January. I contacted my bank to dispute the charge, canceled my card & ordered a new one. THEN I saw a post on here to check "Memberships & Subscriptions" and sure enough, our NBA LEAGUE PASS was just renewed today for one year. This isn't on my radar at all because my husband and sons are the sports fans -- and it's an annual charge so it seems like it's out of nowhere -- and I'd already confirmed it wasn't my Prime renewal. I called the bank again, luckily got the same customer service person, and she undid everything for me. My takeaway is, IT'S ENTIRELY POSSIBLE that a lot of the people posting here have had their credit card numbers stolen or their Amazon accounts hacked, so the charge appears to be fraudulent -- and it basically is since the charge was made by a thief! -- but IF you do have an Amazon account, take half a minute to double check that "Memberships & Subscriptions" just to make sure there's nothing hiding in there that a family member ordered or something that slipped your mind. (If it's your mom's credit card and she doesn't even have an Amazon account, it's obviously NOT her purchase, so a bad actor got the card info and used it.) Can we suggest to Amazon that they put subscriptions on the same damn page as other orders, so we can see immediately what the charge is for??? Would've saved me some time and effort today.

I just got off phone with a Legit Amazon rep and they verified the (888)802-3080 is a legit Pime video phone number. I just cant figure out who is actually using my credit account so their is a problem, just not with this phone number. number is not a scam

Amazon won't ask for the full number on your credit card, they ask only for the last 4 digits which is all that they can see on your account. I also had a 8.99 charge I did not make, never talked to anyone with good english, they finally just refunded me the money, which did not show up anywhere on my account. They did tell me it was for a STARZ subscription, which I already have on my cable. Needless to say, I ordered a new credit card as I think it was compromised by someone scamming my credit card,

This is a scam and not Amazon at all. No Amazon purchases show up with a phone number attached. Call your bank and cancel your card and get a new one. The people in the comments telling you it’s just a subscription you forgot about or something similar are LYING and SCAMMING you. They likely work for the people that created this scam. Do not fall for it. Do not listen to them.

This is a legit number. I called when I saw unexpected charges on one of my credit cards. With out giving my information only by getting a text from them there were able to access my account and tell me what the charges were related to. Turned out my wife had mistakenly used the account.

I had a recurring charge of $1.06 with this same phone number. I didn't catch it until 2 recurring charges were billed and one was paid for in my monthly card payment. I just went to my credit card web site and disputed the two charges and my account will be refunded and a new card will be mailed to me.

With the help of another post here, I was able to determine that this is a legitimate charge that I’d forgotten about. I signed up for PBS Documentaries a couple of months ago & was charged $2.99 for the first month, then $3.99 on the following months. I was able to find the subscription by logging into the standard Amazon website & looking under “Memberships & Subscriptions”. A couple of clicks and I was able to cancel it.

I have the same description for charges shown at the same time each month for 7 months at the same price of $9.84. I chatted online with one of Amazon's representatives and they said it was for a Starz subscription, but I never subscribed. They canceled "subscription" and providing a refund for all the months within 3-5 days. They were very helpful and it was resolved in 10 minutes.

Call Amazon Prime Video via the Amazon Prime app, "Settings", "Help and Feedback", "Contact Us". These are digital subscriptions that occur monthly. If you have multiple charges, on the same days, each month, it's subscriptions. I had Paramount, Starz and Masterpiece Theater...called Amazon directly and confirmed each charge. I canceled the subscriptions and stopped seeing the charges. The charges screamed fraud but they ended up being legit. Don't cancel you card until you attempt to verify them with Amazon.

I received an alert regarding a CC charge that indicated "Merchant name is Prime Video, Merchant category is PROCESSING, Amount is $8.99"

I couldn't find any video purchases, then I found this page and read someone's comment about going to the section Amazon>Account>Memberships & Subscriptions. In Subscriptions, I found a Showtime subscription that someone in my household triggered as a trial, and now it was going to bill me monthly - but I'm still in the free trial period! They decided to charge me a month in advance! I was able to stop this 'subscription' and request a refund of the charge, and also indicate to leave the remainder of the free trial active, but do NOT auto-renew.

So, net-net, a legitimate charge, but I couldn't tell what it was from the CC charge, and it was not listed in my 'Digital orders' or any other orders - I had to drill into the Subscriptions area to find it.

Be careful of any subscriptions you wish to trial for free - if you forget to cancel, you'll get billed.

Just putting another record amid a lot of noise that for me, this was a legitimate charge to Amazon, for a trial video subscription I started months ago and forgot to cancel (and as others note, it is hard to find, it doesn't show up in the "purchases" section, subscriptions show up under setting and your account.) While some people may truly have had their card stolen and/or their account hacked, the charge itself is a legitimate Amazon charge, as some others have noted. PRACTICAL NOTE: If it is an a legit Amazon charge, that means your Amazon account was hacked, not that your card was stolen! Don't cancel your card but leave your account unprotected!

I searched my Amazon Prime account high and low for whatever I might have ordered for $9.80 and $5.44 and could not find any record -- online or in my emails. I started to call the 888-802-3080 number that said it was Amazon and wanted to verify who I was and sent me a text but then I paused and realized it could be a scam so googled the number and got this webpage. I immediately hung up and contacted Amazon Customer Service via its webpage and received a call immediately. They had NO record of the reoccurring charges and said the 888 number is NOT associated with their website. I checked other Amazon purchases in my bank account that I did in fact make and they had no phone number connected to them. THIS IS CLEARLY A SCAM! Do not call the phone #.

This is 100% fraud. The people on here saying it is legit must be part of this. I have never had my debit card connected to my Amazon account. If you call the number, they want your debit card number and want you to verify who you are by sending you a verification. Amazon does not do this and should be able to pull your information up. They will confirm this is not their process. When you ask to speak to a manager at this number, they will tell you one is not available. I got a debit charge for kindle services and reported it as fraud, my bank issued me a new card and I used it to put gas one time. A week later I got a new debit card charge for Amazon digital. The only explanation is the gas station is stealing my card number. Be careful and pay cash.

i have recieved message that from CITI Bank Credit card department. Transction at Amazon digital 8888023080 US on 20-Mar-19 declined on your credit card ending with 2663 due to invalid expiry date entry. retry with valid expiry date.

I had this same telephone number show up. I called it and when the recorded message asked me to verify my account, I hung up, suspicious. But guess what - I looked at my Amazon Prime Video account to see if it showed a charge of that amount on the right date and there it was: BritBox, which I had forgotten I recently resubscribed to. So before you believe the folks on here who are stirring up trouble, take a minute to look at your Amazon account!

Discover Card with a charge for $473.42. No similar purchase on Amazon account. Don’t call the number referenced as it is not an Amazon phone number. It is the scammers number. If you call the number and get through, you will not be speaking to anyone at Amazon. Call your bank or credit card provider and dispute the charge.

Call Amazon before calling your bank but make sure to look up the Amazon customer service number or use their chat. I was charged $2.26 2 days ago and believed it to be fraud however Amazon was able to confirm it was my Discovery+ subscription that had been discounted due to a promotion from Discovery (charge is typically $5.67/mth). If you review your charges under your subscription it will show the list of charges. I am not saying that there aren't fraudulent charges out there but make sure you check off all avenues before having the bank cancel your card and the hassle for an item that may be legit.

We saw several suspicious small charges on our credit card statement today. We pulled out our saved statements, and the debits were there only some amounts were different over time. We read the comments above and thought the charges might be a scam. Before we panicked, I pulled up our Amazon Prime on the TV to confirm the subscriptions we have, the cost and date of the next debit on the card. The numbers were close but not the same. Pulled up Amazon on desktop. Logged into our account, hovered over accounts & lists, pull-down menu opened. Went to Membership & Subscriptions and clicked the link. Our Amazon Prime (if you have it) and our subscriptions purchased through Amazon appeared before you very eyes. We have prime and 3 subscriptions. There they were and the amounts matched the debit dates and charges. You can choose one of yours and click on payment history. You'll see the payment with tax included, date of next debit, the credit card in use and history of payments. And, the unsubscribe button is close by too. If you're still uneasy then you can easily switch your card in use to another one if you have two on file. If you can't match up those payment amounts and/or the subscription (s) with the amounts you're being charged then there's an obvious problem. For us, all the charges and payments were as they should be. We did switch our credit card. Our credit union is much easier to deal with if there's a problem involving their card then the card we were currently using.

This is the phone number for subscriptions for digital services, ie: mine was $9.99/month ($10.81 with tax) for Paramount+, which I completely forgot I subscribed to (hello, Yellowstone!). I spoke directly with Amazon by calling the number from the Amazon website and they were able to tell me what it was for. They transferred me to the digital department and my subscription was canceled and my credit card was credited.

Saw this charge on my bank charge listing, had to do a little digging around in our Amazon Prime order history, but it was for a Britbox TV selection that I did order a few months back for my wife. Having been through a recent fraudulent use of one of my credit cards, I was glad to see that this was something I actually did buy, but had forgotten about (I don't watch the channel myself). It would be nice, however, if the description that Amazon provides to the bank would specifically state what the service is that's being charged ("Britbox") instead of a generic "Prime Video" description that may or may not ring a bell.

I've had the same as well, it says Prime Video and one of them had AMZN Digital, then an order number or account number. Amazon said that the location shouldn't be 888-802-3080. Be careful out there, and God I hope they catch the sons a bitches.

A charged just billed to my credit card (3/1/2019) for 9.99. Called the phone number and was told it was for Cinemax. He asked me do you want me to cancel it. I said yes, and he said I should receive a credit in 5 business days... so sounds like there could be a promotion for Cinemax, as he asked pretty quickly if I wanted to cancel... just saying...

Fraud for sure. I am an Amazon prime member yet when I checked my Amazon Prime account, no purchase showed up for this $5.99. Also called Amazon and same was confirmed - no purchase for $5.99. Thus, someone was processing this charge to my credit card pretending to be Prime Video - note that “Amazon” did not appear on the charge, different from other past legit Amazon prime video transactions. Canceled the credit card and requested refund from cc company. This went back for a few months. Bank refunding charges. Hadn’t noticed since this amount generally falls under the radar.

Received computerized report of use of my Verizon Visa Card of Symphony Bank for $26.84 of 03 Dec by "AMZN Digital 888-802-3080, Washington" I make one charge a month on this card, on the 2nd of the month to pay Verizon, nothing more. I called Symphony Bank Fraud, Manila made report that their bank got had. New account number next month should take care of this.

This is an actual charge. Although the internet is rife with fraud accusations, this is an actual Amazon digital charge, usually incurred through an Amazon Fire tablet or smart TV rather than your Amazon app on your phone (where you will not see it listed). I called Amazon directly, from my app, and she was able to find the charge. It turns out the decision I made from the couch while battling the Flu in January was still ongoing - a $7.41 recurring charge for access to Barbie's Dreamhouse VIP section on our Amazon Fire tablet. I am glad I did my research instead of having to get a new credit card issued.

This may or may not be a fraud charge. That phone number is indeed associated with Amazon. But that does not mean that someone did not ding your account through them for something fraudulent. The hope is that you won't respond to the small amount or question it as ANYONE checking on the charge will quickly find it was for nonsense. Just keep checking both your card account and always look for your Amazon purchases, including digital purchases, to make sure they match up.

Scam or Not that's the question: In my case, I was charged $8.99 for and the charge appeared as follows (Amazon Digit*ZA1NT7888-802-3080 WAUS), so I found out I was being charged $8.99 a month for 3 months and didn't notice this charge. After a google search, I found this page, and then did some research on my amazon account. I found out that the charges were from an app (AMC plus Monthly Membership with Trial) that had a free trial and after that trial was expired, I would be charged at a rate of $8.99/ month. Didn't remember signing up for that AMC channel, so I looked in my email files (I always keep my emails) and guess what, I did sign up and forgot about canceling the app! So, in my case it appears it was a legit charge!

I found 3 charges with this phone number on my debit card a few weeks ago, knew that I didn't pay for Amazon Prime Video as it's included with my Prime membership, the phone number sounded fishy when I called it (confirm your account after I text you? NOPE), and then I googled and found lots of things about the number being related to a foreign scam. Reported fraud, lived without my debit card for a week, got new card, 1 week later, same charge is on my new debit card already? I knew something was up. Dug deeper into Amazon and I did find that there was an AMC subscription showing that amount, matching all of those charges in my Amazon account. I most likely did a "free trial" and forgot to cancel. It's cancelled now so should stop - but it's still really weird that the statement had that clearly fraudulent phone # attached to it. I'll update if charges don't stop.

Scam. I spent some time on the phone with these clowns, and they tried to get unnecessary information out of me and never resolved my dispute. Just cancel your card and get a new one. I disputed with my bank and they were very little help, so you just have to cut that card off quick.

SCAM , I realized this charge was made to my accounts from 2 months ago. more than $200, altogether. Best thing is just call your bank and block this account from future transactions. This is not Amazon...
