FIRSTENERGY OPCO F E ECHECK

How does this comany get your bank account number, and if this has happened before, why isnt the banks recognizing these charges as a scam? I had to call my bank and then had to put in a claim which took me over 40 minutes on the phone. Looks like they're also praying on elderly people. Whst is this world coming to?

Definitely a scam, but I caught it the day it happened and got my bank to put a stop on it and for reoccurring charges that way it won't happen again.

Had this charge directly drawn from my checking account. 100% fraud

I saw this on my FirstEnergy bank withdraw as well and along with all the other scams going on I thought I'd call them and find out. In my case the representative reassured me it's not a scam and it's just their online payment routing; OPCO WEST READYPAY WEB FE ECHECK is exactly how it appears on my bank statement. Hope that sets minds at ease, but when it doubt, check it out!

This is a scam and we noticed a 2nd first energy charge as an ach debit in a month. Calling 1st energy in Akron, it wasn't their charge. We reported it to our bank, which investigated and found it was fraud. Before we could switch everything to a new account we had to open we were defrauded a 2nd time the next month. What a hassle to have to change all our automatic debits and deposits.

This was not Fraud in my case. In the description of the transaction, after the "FIRSTENERGY OPCO F E ECHECK", was a 12 digit number. I went to ohio edisons website and went to register for a new account and it asked for a zip code and a 12 digit account number. I put that 12 digit number in, finished registration and it brought up my account and payment history. I recently switched over the utilities for a property to be under my name.
