Same as Chris here, got a 6.95 charge for 3 months running. All were reported to my card issuer as fraud since I didn't sign up for any CR services. Consumer Reports service agent was polite and quickly cancelled the account.
I'm guessing CR might be paying out referrals of some kind to whoever brings in new accounts and criminals are using stolen CC data to sign people up?
I was getting a $6.95 monthly charge for the last 3 months. I called my credit card company and reported fraud, they will mark as fraud and reissue me a new card. Then I called to Consumer Reports, CR *CONSUMERREPORTS.OR 800-333-0663 NY and they could not find my name or my address anywhere for an account. They asked for the card number, and since it was already canceled, I gave it to them. The found my card number listed under some way out name and email address, she said it looked like a 4 year old set up the account. It's not exact but my name was: Ajakbqg Ghbrts, and my email was ajakbqqghbrts@live.com. The account was set up in August 2016 and just as the monthly charges started. She submitted for a refund to my car account, although since it is now closed, my bank will need to figure out where it goes. So I'm not totally convinced this is a Consumer Reports intention to mess with the public.
I just saw a charge for $26.00 on my Citicard statement. The date that it was charged was March 2nd. I signed up for Consumer Reports in December, so I don't know why this charge is showing. Please clear this charge.
I found a $30.00 charge to my debit card this morning from CR "Consumer 800 333 0663" I DID NOT make this purchase. Consumer Reports has made a presumptious "auto renewal". I have cancelled the charge with my bank and called CR to tell them that the bank is stopping payment and to please STOP the renewal. Per 'Tonia" at CR this has been done.
Charge on my card is for 30 dollars in which I never approved of.
