What is it?

This may be an automatic payment to pay off your credit card balance.

Some banks show payments to pay off credit card balances as subtracting money. At first glance, this may look like your credit card was used to pay for something you don't recognize. However, using your credit card to pay for something would add to your balance.

Check if this charge is adding to your balance or paying it off.

"AUTO PAYMENT - THANK YOU!" Is probably not a scam. It is your credit card company taking money out of one of your other accounts and applying it to pay off your credit card balance.
